Multiple Sclerosis and Mollii

Multiple sclerosis is a neurological condition which causes damage to the nerves in the brain and spinal cord (the central nervous system) leading to a variety of symptoms. Each person’s experience with MS is different, needing individual treatment and care.

Mollii is used regularly by people with MS to relieve spasticity, spasms, pain and fatigue as well as to help overcome other movement difficulties.  Mollii’s help for easier movement makes living with MS more manageable and enhances other therapies.  It can reduce the need for some  treatments too and be used with all types and stages of MS.

Read our Stories below about people with MS and using Mollii.

There are about 130,000 people in the UK with MS and 100 more are diagnosed each week (MS Trust).  Excellent sources of information and help exist such as from the MS Trust www.mstrust.org.uk, MS UK www.ms-uk.org and the MS Society www.mssociety.org.uk plus others including more than 60 independent MS Therapy Centres: www.msntc.org.uk.

In MS the myelin sheath protecting nerves, becomes damaged, leading to signals not passing along nerves correctly which can affect many functions in the body. The body can repair this damage sometimes (Relapsing and Remitting MS) and the newest drug treatments have recently improved outcomes significantly. However, when damage to the myelin sheath remains, this can lead to lasting symptoms such as movement difficulties, muscle tone imbalances and pain as well as fatigue and problems with many other usual functions. The consequences are not just physical, MS can also affect anyone in non-physical ways as well, requiring careful support.

Mollii’s stimulation enables a person’s individual and evolving needs in MS to be helped for better function, well-being and quality of life.
